Better protected, processed more efficiently: Biowert relies on big bags with PE liners for its new AGRIPLAST packaging. The additional inner liner protects the dry, natural-fiber-reinforced bioplastics from absorbing moisture during transport and storage. For our customers, this means less effort required for pre-drying, lower drying costs, and shorter turnaround times.

AGRIPLAST packaging with a PE liner protects against moisture

The new packaging combines a sturdy big bag with an additional inner liner made of polyethylene (PE). This so-called PE liner reduces moisture penetration and helps keep the AGRIPLAST granules until it is processed.

Moisture protection is particularly important for plastics reinforced with natural fibers: The natural fibers they contain can absorb moisture from the environment. With the new packaging, we are therefore addressing this issue as early as the transportation and storage phases to reduce the effort required for drying later on.

Less pre-drying, lower costs

For fabricators, the new AGRIPLAST packaging offers three advantages:

• Less pre-drying: If the granules absorb less moisture before processing, the amount of drying required may be reduced.
• Lower drying costs: Reduced drying requirements save energy and reduce the load on the drying systems.
• Shorter turnaround times: Less time spent on material preparation allows for a faster transition to processing.

The amount of pre-drying required depends on the specific AGRIPLAST type, the residual moisture, and the processing conditions. The product-specific processing recommendations remain authoritative.

Well Protected Until Processing

To ensure that the moisture protection remains effective, the big bags should be stored in a dry place, and the PE liners should be kept closed until the material is removed. After partial removal, the inner liner should be carefully resealed.
